From brown Buffalos to partying Tigers!
Tet, Vietnamese New Year took place February 14th, on Valentines day. In Leuven each year, the association of Vietnamese students, Vinakul, organises the greatest Vietnamese Newyear party in Belgium. LOKO international was there to taste the colourful food, have a nice chat and be amused by games that went beyong imagination.
Problably the best that could happen to you Saturday night the February 14th was ending up in the middle of nowhere at Heverlee campus. Although a trip in the cold from Leuven city centre to Heverlee campus does make you shivering, Vietnamese Newyear made it worth while. As it is known of Asians, there ain’t no party like a party with lots of food. When we entered the room, the first thing that caught our attention was the extensive buffet waiting for us.It was almost impossible to try everything. The Vietnamese people who were serving the food, told us that it was important to taste one dish in particular; only made at new years eve. After diner it was time to play some games. The slowest-biking-contest was definitely one of the favorites! The one who could ride a bike the slowest, became the champion. The evening ended with a valentine balloon snapping contest. The balloons were decorated with typical awkward faces and it was most amusing to observe the spectacle! And for now, we will wait until the next New Year celebration; the Indian one called ‘Holi’ on 20th of March. |
