When Mamma Do first came out, Pixie Lott got freely compared to Amy Winehouse and, back then, still somewhat popular and also British singer Duffy. The latter being already compared to the first. Winehouse might have set some kind of standard, but honestly, I do not see the resemblence whatsoever. Pixie Lott has a good voice, but to say her music takes after Amy Winehouse is doing both singers wrong.

On Turn It Up, we find nothing more, nothing less than some easy listening pop songs. If you look for something new, this is not the CD you will find it on. Except for Mamma Do and Cry Me Out, I cannot shake the feeling I’ve heard it all before. Since I purchased the CD, I haven’t stopped thinking about who she reminds me of and I still am not quite sure. If you feel like helping, take a listen to Band Aid and let me know. The closest I came to remembering was some of the early work of the Sugar Babes and Atomic Kitten.

If you are the iTunes kind of person, and you are into this full blown pop music sporing a female voice, I would recommend Mamma Do, Cry Me Out (ideal at Christmas), Here We Go Again and Jack.
