Scissor Sisters, Night Work
Fans had to wait 4 years for the Scissor Sisters third studio album after 'Scissor Sisters' and 'Ta-dah', but the waiting for 'Night Work' was definitely worth the while.

It feels somehow strange to realise it had been so long since 'Don't feel like dancing' had been a great hit. 'Ta-Dah' was a nice album. However, the better 'Night Work' cast a big shadow over it.
There is, however, an explication for the delay. In 2009, the group scrapped an entire album for not being 'good enough'. Lead singer Jake Shear would flee to Berlin where he would get the necessary inspiration for what eventually became this new album.
What's so good about the new album, then? The voice is still unmistakeably Jake Shears', the extravagant lead singer, a clear case of 'hate it or love it'. Nevertheless, it is less sharp and high pitched as on it was on 'Ta-Dah'. There's more dance, there's a dash of electrodance here and there, we definitely hear Micheal Jackson and Duran Duran isn't far away.
So yes, the tracks are reminiscent of the 80's. We 'recognise' the deep Thriller-laugh on 'Any Which Way' - the second single to be released after 'Fire With Fire'. Said deep Thriller-voice pops back in on the genious track 'Invisible Lights'.
If the singer is provocative on stage, he is definitely sexual in the lyrics as well at times. On 'Whole New Way', it goes So when everyone got home / I got your tail between my legs / We can talk about relationships / But there's better things to fill your head with.
In conclusion: they are back! Picking a favourite track is hard. With a gun to my head, I would go for 'Whole New Way' 'Invisible Light' and 'Fire With Fire'.
