remembermePretty face Robert Pattison, aka RPatz among his young female Twilight fans, is the lead actor of Remember Me, a romantic drama set in the New York of summer 2001. Ironically enough however, Remember Me only will be remembered for all the wrong reasons.

“Whatever you do will be insig-nificant, but it is very important that you do it.” This winged statement by Ghandi – solemnly jotted down in his diary by traumatized rebel Tyler, could easily be taken as the bottom line of this melodrama. Central are the characters of Tyler, a spoiled NY upper-class student with an unprocessed past and Ally, who saw her mother being murdered with her own eyes. Heavy stuff and food enough for a profound drama one would say, but instead – after a strong opening, the movie tumbles down to a painfully sentimental level. As a reviewer rightfully pointed out “Remember Me sits awkwardly between the heavy drama and teen romance genres, and much like a misunderstood teenager, it isn’t sure where it belongs, ultimately alienating itself from both.” Despite the fact that Twilight heartthrob Pattison shows that he in fact is able to deliver a few lines, the thought that this movie was only called into life to give him a break from his vampire successes is never far.

One wonders why such heavy traumas need to be introduced when they will not be elaborated at all. Unlike the touching relationship Tyler has with his little sister, the love-story between Tyler and Ally – the core element of the drama - does not convince and one wonders where the movie is heading to. Well, once it gets towards its end, it will stab you in the back – but if only you would have thought twice, you could have known. Yes, the end is at least clear and dramatic, but so disrespectful, not only to the audience. “A desperate act to bleed emotion out of the audience in the most shameless of way” according to our reviewer. We couldn’t agree more.

So unless you are a true RPatz die hard fan or unless you cannot resist the thought to see the guy acting for a chance, you wouldn’t miss anything if you decided not to go see Remember Me. As a nitwit movie with much thrown away potential, Remember Me passes with flying colours. In other words: it is truly disappointing. | 
