Law Abiding Citizen

Jamie Foxx stars alongside Gerard Butler in the bone-chilling thriller Law Abiding Citizen. Butler, whom I never expected to see in a film like this, paints a convincing portrait of Clyde Shelton, a murderous vigilante on a crusade against corruption in the court. His lawyer, played by Foxx, cuts a deal with Darby who killed Shelton’s wife and daughter. 10 years later Shelton puts into motion his epic scheme of revenge and all hell breaks loose. Everybody who was involved in the case must die, preferably in a spectacular or horrific way with big explosions.
However unlikely the story gets though –and it gets more and more absurd as the movies goes on- the suspense never quite lets you stop suspending your disbelief. It will keep you on the edge of your seat, striking when you least expect it and not striking when you do think something will happen.
The story is pedantic at times in its critique of the American justice system, but both Foxx brings enough flair to the role of atoning lawyer to keep it from collapsing onto itself.
One thing is for sure: Law Abiding Citizen is not for the faint of heart!
