Iron Man 2

I must admit I never thought that Robert Downey Jr. would make a good superhero, but no one can deny that he is Tony Stark. The first Iron Man was refreshing in many ways: funny and sarcastic, it didn’t take itself too seriously. That was exactly what made it so great. Unfortunately, the second movie has lost some of that naiveté. Not to fear though, the snark is still ever present.
The story is flimsier and the actual fight between Whiplash (a convincing Mickey Rourke) and Iron Man is disappointingly short. Nevertheless, for those who expect bigger, tougher and louder: Iron Man 2 delivers. Don Cheadle steps up as Lt. James Rhodes –replacing Terrence Howard- as a sidekick and the chemistry with Downey Jr. is undeniable. The latter’s –comedic- genius doesn’t fail: the film is both hilarious and painful at times.
Gwyneth Paltrow and Scarlett Johansson don’t really live up to their roles though and only annoy at times. Luckily, there is Samuel Jackson as a delectable Nick Fury to save the day!
I still haven’t had enough of seeing Downey Jr. don his suit on the screeching guitars of AC/DC. We want more!
